Saving Variables to Hard Disk Periodically

We always have to count loading cycles of our systems and we run into a problem when there is a power outage of some sort (storm or someone trips the breaker unknowingly).

It would be nice if there was a way to periodically save selected variables to a hard disk or something of the sort that is not wiped clean in the case of a power outage.

You can set variables to be retentive. The current value is saved automatically and will take on that saved value when the RMC starts up. Will that do it?

Well, we have the sine status block being written to a set of variables. We tried using the retention function, but it still did not save the variable. Maybe the fact that it’s coupled with the sine status block could be the issue. I’ll add a line to one of the expressions to set the variable that’s directly connected to the sine block write to another variable periodically and see if retaining that variable works.

Thanks.
