Connect to RMC150 Through CLX chassis

Is there a way to connect to the RMC150 using the backplane of a CLX chassis? My connection to the PLC is through ethernet card in slot 16 with ip of 10...* and RMC’s are on slot 3 with IP 192.168... I tired putting the path behind the IP like 10.5.30.40,16,0,3, that didn’t work though.

Have you tried looking at this topic in the help?

It is the normal way of communicating between a Control Logix PLC and the RMC150.

I have searched help for this and I think you may have misunderstood me. I wish to connect to the RMC150 using RMC tools on my laptop which is on a class A network, thru the CLX chassis which is on a class C network. 2 different E-net cards on the CLX chassis, I connect to the card with class A net, and the RMC is on class C net.

You are right. I did misunderstand the request. Sorry.

I’m unaware of any specific feature Delta has implemented to support this. Do you know if Rockwell supports connecting any 3rd party ethernet device like this or only ones with dedicated drivers?

I just found out it RA does not support 3rd party connections. Thanks for your reply’s.

samuraimarc,

This is a feature that we do understand would be useful for some of our customers, especially when you are connected to the plant network and could tunnel through the ControlLogix to get to the RMC on the machine network. We have considered adding this feature to RMCTools but it hasn’t happened yet. It basically involves providing the correct EtherNet/IP routing options and allowing the customer to configure the routing. This method would result in a bit slower communications. I will make note in our feature request system that this has been requested.
