EtherCAT gateway

I need a CAN to EtherCAT gateway for RMC200 to communicate with other devices. Can this product communicate with the ECAT module of RMC200? It is an Anybus Communicator-CAN to EtherCAT, Item number AB7311-B。 The picture is an explanation of its EtherCAT, and a separate manual is attached.Or there may be other available product recommendations

Simon,
Yes, that device can communicate with the RMC200 ECAT module. Whether it will work for your specific application depends on the situation. Could you describe a bit more about how you would like to use it?

it is a testing device , the only position feedback is transmitted by CAN or CAN FD. Because motion is slow, i purpose to use a getway get the position feedback.

A converter will introduce some delay. For feedback, delay can be quite problematic. However, if the system responds very slowly to actuator input, then it may work well enough. If this is the case, then will probably work to convert the CAN position feedback data to EtherCAT and then assign that data as axis feedback.

The Anybus Communicator CAN to EtherCAT (AB7311-B) should work with the RMC200 ECAT module since it functions as an EtherCAT slave and supports PDO/SDO communication. Ensure the following:

  • Configuration: Verify that the Anybus PDOs/SDOs match the RMC200’s requirements.
  • ESI File: Load the Anybus ESI file into the RMC200.
  • CAN Protocol: Confirm the Anybus supports the CAN protocol used by the RMC200.

Alternatives include the HMS Industrial Networks gateway series or Beckhoff EL6751 (if CANopen is used).
